New products in art education
The VAK is the center for art education in Delft, which offers courses for all art forms. The market for education in the arts is changing rapidly. We want to become less financially dependent on municipal funding and improve the relationship between costs and revenues over the next three years significantly.
We want to create new artistic products and services (in the broadest sense) with educational and recreational features that are innovative in our sector. We hope that this may serve as examples of innovative thinking to other offerings within our organisation, and hence our focus on market-oriented work is increased. We want in three years time with these new products to grow to € 100,000 gross annual sales and hence increase the annual net profit by € 40,000.

Going FORTH was an intensive and inspiring journey. It was not only a highly creative process. There was also a strong focus on business and market orientation, which was unusual for us in the cultural sector. It was a period of many eye-openers about the outside world and provided a lot of opportunities. Which was very important, especially when it comes to cultural entrepreneurship in an era where governments retreat into subsidizing of cultural organizations. Furthermore, three new products were generated and delivered. In one case, we develop an offering focused on styling and fashion. We launch this autumn 2010. In addition to tangible products, we gained many insights. Understanding what market-oriented work actually means for us. It does not stop after Gijs left. Actually begins then. The VAK goes FORTH!
